Terms of service

Last updated: 27 August 2026

Stemma (stemma.link) is a family tree editor run as a free, non-commercial hobby project by one person. By signing in you accept the terms below. If you do not, don't use it.

The service

Free, with no guarantee of uptime, correctness or continued existence. Features can change or disappear. It is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind, and we are not liable for lost data or for anything that follows from using it or from not being able to use it. Nothing here removes liability that the law does not allow to be removed.

Your account

Created the first time you sign in with Google. Keep control of that Google account — anything done through your session counts as done by you. Not intended for anyone under 16.

Your content

What you enter stays yours; we only store, display and back it up so the service can work. You are responsible for what you put in: that you may use the photos and text you upload, that you have a reason to record details about living people, and that you don't enter unlawful, defamatory or harassing content about real people. Content or accounts that break this can be removed.

Sharing

Access is granted through invitation links you create. A link works for whoever holds it, so hand it only to people you mean to let in.

Don't abuse it

No trying to reach trees or accounts you weren't given, no scanning or overloading the service, no bulk-scraping other people's data, nothing unlawful.

AI access

If you connect an AI assistant through the MCP endpoint, it acts with your permissions and can read and change your trees. What it does under your account is on you. Disconnect it in your AI client to stop it.

Ending it

Stop whenever you like; email admin@stemma.link to have your account and its content deleted. Access can be suspended for breaking these terms, and the whole service may be shut down — with reasonable notice if it is.
